Nights

With DMS working nights this months, I find that we are trying to find a new schedule that works for us as a family and still leaves time for DMS to you, know, sleep. If DMS sleeps when he first comes home, then he’s awake when Fussbot is napping. If he sleeps a little and then is up for playtime/lunch/putting to nap, he has to go back to sleep when Fussbot naps which doesn’t always work because he’s not always able to fall back to sleep. He can’t stay up until nap time because that’s something on the order of being up for a billion hours and sadly, he’s not bionic.

So we have to choose. An hour here, a nap there, dinner at 4, breakfast at 12, alone time all night. Even though we have nearly the same amount of awake time together, it feels so different to have him around during the day. We aren’t able to connect as much, between making sure Fussbot doesn’t jump off the highest perch he can climb to and trying to do whatever personal stuff we need to get done each day, we don’t have that quiet-connect time together. I thought I would like having nights to putter and do my own thing but really, I just miss my husband.

That schedule sounds hard. He doesn't have to work nights forever, does he?
